About Us

What Is Solar Comfort?
Solar comfort is an Infrared zoned heater on casters that can be directed in a way that maintains warmth in areas that are hard to heat while reducing your heating bill. It also blends in like a piece of furniture rather han looking like a heater.

What Makes Solar Comfort Different Than Conventional Heaters?
First off, the Solar Comfort does not remove humidity nor oxygen, which helps maintain a healthier environment. Solar comfort does not burn oils, gas or other combustibles. The Solar Comfort uses a safe Infrared absorption to efficiently convert electrical power into evenly distributed heat. The heat does not go right to the ceiling like other heaters. It heats more like the Sun!

Can humidity Actually Help Heat Better?
Yes, humidity will actually assist the heater in performing even better. Since Solar Comfort does not remove humidity, the heat will warm water molecules in the air and increase your heating capability while maintaining heat lower in the room where we live. The reason being is that moist air is heavier than dry air. Heaters that dry out the air or over heat the air cause the heat to rise quickly to the ceiling.

What size area can it heat?

1500 watt Infrared heaters are able to heat an area between 600 to 800 square feet. In our opinion, our competitors are over promising the results of their units with statements such as "We heat 2400 sq. ft with two heaters at the price of a coffee maker" or 'heat between 1000 and 1200 square feet".No matter who you buy from, we all pull about 1500 watts and about 12.5 amps. The main differences is quality, safety, appearance, longevity and the fact that unlike others, Solar Comfort has a real heat exchanger. Individual results depends on your homes insulation, climate, humidity, drafts, etc. Although in many cases people have used these units as a sole heating source, we recommend it as a supplemental heater and not to shut off all your other forms of heat. Let this unit save you $ by supplementing.

Keep in mind that although this heater is capable of heating 600-800 square feet, if you have open hallways, basements, drafts, etc. you are really trying to heat much more area. Bottom line, don't think of buying a unit or two to shut off all other forms of heat. Think of it as a supplemental heater to help with chilled areas as well as taking some of the blunt of your other forms of heat and putting more of it on the Infrared heater which is a much cheaper form of heating.

Can I Purchase Just The Main Heater And Upgrade To A Wood Case Later?
Yes, the heater can be ordered in the Powder Coated case only which includes roller casters. Being that Solar Comfort is a modular unit you can purchase the Powder Coated heater and upgrade at anytime to a wood case by sliding the main powder coated unit into the wood case.

Why Is The Solar Comfort Safe?
The Solar Comfort has no flame or fumes. Its safe, clean Infrared lamps provide the energy. Extensive testing at C.S.A. (Canada) and E.T.L. (Europe) has verified the safety of the Solar Comfort. Due to its safe operating temperature, the Solar Comfort unit may be placed next to flammable materials with no safety clearance needed. It also has a breaker and automatic safety switch. It is the safest in its class! In fact, through our own independent test, when placing a piece of folded paper to our lamps after 3 minutes it never caught fire but just discolored. However, in 5 seconds the same test with our competitors caught fire.

How Long Has Solar Comfort Been Around?
The Solar Comfort technology was developed nearly 30 years ago. There are now more than 100,000 units operating in both residential and commercial applications. Recently we talked with a customer that still has his 1983 units working today. This is the original designed unit that has a proven track record. Quartz style heaters are not the same.

What Kind Of Warranty Does It Have?
The Solar Comfort has an extensive 3 year parts warranty – including lamps. The unit has no moving parts except the fan. It also has trouble-free solid-state controls. There are no burners to rust, corrode, or adjust, and no pilot light to waste energy. It is the simplest and easiest Infrared heater in its class to work on. This does not include the wood case. If you have an issue with a wood case it is based on a case by case basis regarding manufacturing defects only.

How Much Power Does The Unit Draw?
The Solar Comfort unit uses 1500 watts(typical test show around 1435). That is less than a coffee maker! We only have one size which is the 1500 watts. Competitors try to sell smaller units but they are ineffective. 1500 watts is the minimum you want to decently heat. 12.5 amps at peak. Beware of smaller units than 1500 watts.

Who Are Solar Comfort's Main Competitors And How Are You Better?
Solar Comfort is really in a class of its own having the only real heat exchanger similar to a real furnace, uses Infrared heat bulbs rather than quartz tubes and comes with modular unit options. However, the main competitors are: Edenpure, ComfortZone, SunHeat and SunTwin (Edenpure). Again, all of the others use quartz which are not as safe and nearly as easy to change lamps on as Solar Comfort.
